Ready. Steady. Go….. Register your team for Chariots of Fire 2015

Today is the official launch of Chariots of Fire 2015 and this year all sponsorship money raised from the charitable relay race will go to this year’s charity East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

In support of the charity’s provision of a team of specialist nurses who deliver a high quality symptom management service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The EACH True Colours Symptom Management Team aims to ensure all life-threatened children, young people and their families have access to vital support and advice when they need it most. They provide families with choices to manage their child or young person’s healthcare needs and symptoms in a place of their choosing and work with families and local care professionals to develop individual symptom management plans. The provision of these nurses is funded entirely through local fundraising for EACH.

Through Chariots of Fire the charity have set an ambitious, yet necessary, fundraising target for all participants of Chariots of Fire of £152,000. Please help them achieve this target by entering a team and raising sponsorship or donating directly to EACH at https://www.justgiving.com/teams/EACH-Chariots.

Denise Fenn, Fundraising Development Manager for EACH said “We are delighted to be this year’s official charity for Chariots of Fire. Being part of this well known event will help us raise the much needed funds to support our specialist team of nurses and help raise awareness of the care and support that EACH offers. We will be entering a team and look forward to seeing you all on the start line in September.“This year we would like to set a challenge to every team that enters of raising a minimum of £400 to support this vital service providing care to children and young people with life-threatening conditions and supporting the families who need it. Please help us achieve this target by raising sponsorship.”

Chariots of Fire is the regions longest running fundraising event, now in its 24th year, and is organised by Hewitsons Charitable Trust, the charity established and supported by solicitor firm Hewitsons LLP, and is backed by the Cambridge News. Race Director, Charles Hewitsons said “The True Colours Symptom Management Team provides a much needed service for children, young people and their families. Providing families with a choice on how to manage their child or young person’s healthcare needs and symptoms in a place of their choosing is invaluable. Having visited their Milton hospice it is clearly evident how worthwhile this charity is and how EACH will benefit greatly from the monies raised from this years race. We are delighted to support them.

“Every year the race never fails to deliver and this year we have increased the limit on the number of teams that are able to enter to 380. This means that there is even more chance for people to run and more chance to raise sponsorship money. I look forward to seeing everybody on the 20th September.”

The race takes place on Sunday 20th September and starts and end on Queens’ Green. Each runner will follow a picturesque and unique 1.7-mile route through some of Cambridge’s historic city centre and beautiful colleges, over the Cam and along the Backs, before passing on the baton to the next runner at Queens’ Green.Team registrations close on Wednesday 16th September at 5.00pm or earlier if registrations reach 380 teams.
