With up to 400 teams anticipated to enter Chariots of Fire the race organisers, Hewitsons Charitable Trust, will once again don their distinctive red t-shirts and run the unique 1.6 miles course though the heart of the City. All have pledged to raise money for this year’s official charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK).

The runners include a wide range of abilities, from those that enjoy a fun-run pace to the eager sprinters of team ‘Hewligan’. One team captain Lynne Adams, Associate said: “I am keen to captain a team and I am excited to see how well our runners perform on the day. It is great to be part of a well-known event such as Chariots of Fire. We aim to raise as much money as possible for ARUK and, providing we have no injuries, finish the race with time to spare.”

Race Director, Charles Hewitson said: “Chariots of Fire has become a staple event in Cambridge, bringing together numerous corporates, individuals and Colleges. The camaraderie and team spirit is amazing. It is a great opportunity for people to get together and enter a team with their colleagues or friends and help raise money for this years official charity Alzheimer’s Research UK“

The race starts and finishes on Queens’ Green on Sunday 17th September. Team registrations close on Wednesday 13 September at 5pm unless all 400 teams have registered before that date. To enter a team, visit or to find out more about Alzheimer’s Research UK and their research please visit
