Despite the absence of Chariots of Fire in the calendar last year the organisers of this charitable relay race are delighted to see the steady sign up of team registrations.
The appearance of regular supporters is an encouraging sign to what is anticipated to be another enjoyable race day on Sunday 19th September.
One such company is CMR Surgical, who this year have entered an impressive six teams. Having entered Chariots of Fire since 2015, CMR is hoping to improve on their previous result, which saw them come within the top 10 finishers.
Per Vegard Nerseth, Chief Executive Officer, CMR Surgical said: “It is wonderful to be taking part in Chariots of Fire once again after last year’s absence. This year, we are excited to be entering a mammoth 24 runners across 6 teams – our biggest cohort yet. For us, it is a great opportunity for team CMR to get together and have a great day out, all while supporting a vital local charity in the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA).”
Charles Hewitson, Race Director said ‘It’s great to see local businesses entering teams to take part in Chariots each year. Not only is it a fun way to strengthen a sense of teamwork amongst colleagues but it is an enjoyable way to raise valuable sponsorship money for this deserving charity. For businesses who have not previously entered a team, why not give it a try and see where your team gets ranked’.
When asked whether they would recommend Chariots of Fire to others Mr Nerseth added “Most definitely! Chariots of Fire is a great event to encourage people to join together to support an important charity and cause. The route distance isn’t too daunting, and irrespective of your running ability you are cheered along the entire route, thanks to their fantastic volunteers, plus you get to see parts of the Cambridge college grounds not usually open to visitors.”
The race starts and finishes on Queens’ Green on Sunday 19th September. Team registrations close on Wednesday 15 September at 5pm unless all 380 teams have registered before that date.
