Organisers of Chariots of Fire are proud to announce the introduction of a new team category this year, Super Vets. This category is for teams, consisting of six runners, each being over 60 years old
This new category brings the total number of categories to eight. Including all male, all female, mixed, super vets, veteran male, veteran female, veteran mixed, College. Full details on the criteria for each category can be found on www.chariots-of-fire.co.uk.
Since the race launch earlier in the month, a strong number of teams have already entered. With every team that enters expected to raise much needed sponsorship for the official charity, East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) to support their quest to raise £97,500 to support their CPR training programme, it is a very encouraging sign.
Race Director, Charles Hewitson said: “Chariots of Fire is a popular event in Cambridge, bringing together numerous businesses, individuals and Colleges. The camaraderie and team spirit is amazing. It is a great opportunity for people to get together and enter a team with their colleagues or friends and help raise money for this year’s official charity EAAA. It’s really pleasing and encouraging to see such a positive response to our launch.“
The race starts and finishes on Queens’ Green on Sunday 19th September. Team registrations close on Wednesday 15 September at 5pm unless all 380 teams have registered before that date.
The health, safety and wellbeing of all participants, supporters and volunteers continues to be a top priority for the organisers. Every effort is being made to ensure an event that is compliant with all COVID-19 restrictions and best practice. At present, due to COVID-19 considerations, there will not be a prize presentation at the end of the race. However, this situation is being carefully monitored
and the presentation will be reinstated should conditions permit.
