Chariots of Fire postponed following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II
Following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II, HCR Hewitsons Charitable Foundation trustees and Arthur Rank Hospice Charity have taken the decision to respectfully postpone the annual Chariots of Fire Race which was due to take place on Sunday 18 September.
We are working closely with Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, the colleges and local businesses supporting the event to identify a new date. This is a complex process, around the already busy Cambridge calendar and other rescheduled events, but as soon as a new date is agreed it will be shared with registered teams via email and also published on the event website www.chariots-of-fire.co.uk and on our social media channels @chariots_fire on Twitter, Chariots of Fire Cambridge on Facebook.
Registered teams will be automatically rolled over to the revised date and registration will reopen to allow new team entries to sign up for this special 30th anniversary race.
The Trustees of HCR Hewitsons said: “We would like to thank everyone for their understanding whilst we agree the new date. We all appreciate and respect these are extenuating circumstances and urge registered teams to continue their support for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and their training.”.
Sharon Allen OBE, Chief Executive of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity added: “In recent weeks we have enjoyed seeing the excitement and engagement from teams taking part in Chariots of Fire grow and naturally we are disappointed not be able to come together on Sunday for Chariots of Fire. However, we all appreciate the significance of the coming days and recognise this is an important time for families to gather and for people to pay their respects. We would like to thank everyone who has already signed up for their support and we look forward to working with the Chariots of Fire committee to ensure the 30th Anniversary is the wonderful milestone we all wish it to be.”
