Calling all runners for Chariots of Fire 2021
Chariots of Fire is only a few weeks away. Should you be planning to enter a team but have not yet done so, you have until Wednesday 15th September before registrations close.
Why wait? Dust off your trainers and join in and be part of Cambridge’s longest running charitable relay race on Sunday 19th September. To enter a team, visit http://www.chariots-of-fire.co.uk/enter-a-team.
The health, safety and wellbeing of all participants, supporters and volunteers continues to be a top priority for the race organisers, HCR Hewitsons Charitable Trust, the charity established and supported by HCR Hewitsons. Every effort is being made to ensure an event that is compliant with all COVID-19 considerations whilst following best practice. Risk assessments on the race route and COVID-19 can be found on www.chariots-of-fire.co.uk/resources.
Funds raised through this years Chariots of Fire race are going to the official charity partner, East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), to help them expand their vital CPR training programme in the region and save more lives. In the UK the survival rate from an out of hospital cardiac arrest is currently just one in 10, but increased confidence in delivering bystander CPR and using a defibrillator can help to change this.
With a target of £97,500 to support a three-year project, EAAA is passionate about teaching more people in Cambridgeshire how to deliver life-saving bystander CPR and how to use a defibrillator, to improve patient outcomes when a person suffers a cardiac arrest.
The race takes place on Sunday 19th September and starts and ends on Queens’ Green. Each of the six runners per team will follow a picturesque and unique 1.7-mile route through some of Cambridge’s historic city centre and two world renowned Cambridge University Colleges, over the Cam and along the Backs, before passing on the baton to the next runner at Queens’ Green.
